What are Changing Places?
Changing Places are fully accessible toilets designed for individuals who are unable to use a standard
toilet independently. The campaign strives to make all types of venues become completely
accessible to everyone.
The Changing Place space
All Changing Place facilities should offer sufficient space for a disabled person and up to two carers. The space should provide:
- A height adjustable, adult-sized changing bench
- A ceiling track hoist system
- Adequate space for manouevring (at least 12 square meters where possible)
- A centrally located toilet, with space either side for carers
- A screen or curtain to give privacy
- A wide paper roll dispenser for covering the bench
- A large waste disposal bin
- Non-slip flooring
